When you have been given the green light to undertake invisible aligners, it can feel like a huge weight has been lifted. These nifty aligners allow you to get the straighter smile you want in an accelerated time frame without drawing unwanted attention to your teeth.
As the name suggests, invisible aligners are made from clear plastic, which is malleable but firm enough to gently push all of your teeth into the desired positions. Even better, you can simply send pictures of yourself to our dental team once a week to show us how the treatment is going, meaning fewer trips to our clinic.
At Kooringal Dental, we are exceedingly proud to offer Invisalign Wagga to our suitable patients and always happy to discuss your suitability and treatment plans if you have a mild to moderate dental misalignment.
But when it comes to the daily care of Invisalign Wagga, there are a few things that you need to know to get the most out of the treatment and get a straighter smile in the set time frame. So, here are some of our top tips to ensure that this aligner works for you.
22 Hours!
What makes Invisalign Wagga different to many of the other orthodontic tools on the market is that it is removable, meaning that you can choose when you want to wear or remove it. But for the aligners to work correctly, you will need to wear them for a minimum of 22 hours a day or as set down in your treatment plan by our team.
If you fail to do so, your teeth may cease to move and may begin to revert to their original positions, making the entire endeavour an expensive waste of time. So, make sure you wear your aligner and only remove it before you eat or brush your teeth.
Cleaning
As the aligners are clear, many people want to keep them that way to avoid staining and stares. The next thing to consider with daily care is how to clean the aligners. As mentioned earlier, clear aligners are made of plastic and can be easily cleaned by rinsing them under cold water; try to avoid warm or hot water as this can warp the plastic.
There are even cleaning crystals available if you want a minty taste when you wear your aligners, which you would need to soak the aligners in for around 15 minutes a day.
Carrying
When you are out and about, it can be tempting to simply take the aligners out of your mouth and toss them into your pocket or bag. But as you can probably guess, this can cause them to warp out of shape or become damaged. When our team provides you with invisible aligners, we will ensure that you have a hardy carry case to put them in, which will keep them at a stable temperature and protect them from external forces. So be sure to use this case!
Changing
When the aligner you are currently wearing starts to feel loose, it may be time to move on to the next one in the series. On average, each aligner should be worn for around two weeks at a time. But if you put an aligner in and it feels loose, this will require an appointment with our team to assess the underlying cause.
